What is ABA Therapy?

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is a proven, evidence-based therapy for children and young adults with autism. It works by understanding what drives your child’s behavior, breaking skills into tiny steps, and building them up over time. The goal isn’t just better behavior — it’s real change. More independence, more communication, and more joy.

Getting an autism diagnosis — or even suspecting one — is a lot to carry.

You’re figuring out what it means, what to do next, and how to help your child, often all at once. You don’t have to have it figured out before you call us. That’s what the first conversation is for.

You want to see a difference.

In the everyday, not just in a clinic. We work together with parents, caregivers, schools and daycares to bring ABA to your child, wherever they spend their day.

At home

In your home

Work on the routines that matter most — mornings, meals, bedtime — right where they happen. No travel, no extra work.

At school

In the school setting

We work together with school or daycare, helping your child navigate learning, social situations, and daily transitions.

At daycare

At your child’s daycare

Your therapist joins your child at daycare, working alongside staff to help your child develop skills, absorb learning, and make friends.

In the community

Out in the world

Stores, parks, outings — therapy can happen wherever your child needs to build confidence and real-world skills. If you’d like, your child can enjoy sessions in our Kids at Play sensory playground.

EXCLUSIVE

Imagine your kid had a social life

Now they can.

Kutest Kids is unique in that we offer social skills groups. After school and on Sundays, kids come together in expertly-facilitated clubs, laughing, playing, and sharing a hot meal in a warm, welcoming space. Drop them off for two hours and they walk out with full bellies, new friends, and a little more confidence. We keep opening new groups so more families can experience it.

Give us a call

No waiting. No complicated intake. Just a real conversation with someone who can help.

We check your insurance

ABA is covered by most insurance plans and Medicaid. We’ll help you with paperwork, and advocate for no-cost ABA on your behalf.

Your BCBA meets your child

They’ll assess your child’s needs properly, listen carefully to your goals, and build a personalized plan.

Meet your therapist

We match you with a best-fit therapist as quickly as possible.

Who will be working with your child?

You’ll have a dedicated two-person team, an expert who designs the plan, and a therapist who builds a real relationship with your child.

BCBA

Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Your BCBA is the expert who evaluates your child, listens to your goals, and designs a personalized treatment plan. They supervise therapy, track progress, and adjust the plan as your child grows.

RBT

Registered Behavior Technician

Your RBT is the warm, consistent face your child sees every session. They deliver therapy 1-on-1, build a genuine relationship with your child, and make the sessions feel like play.

And you’re part of the team too.

We work together with you every step of the way and show you how to reinforce skills after the therapist goes home.

If your child needs more than ABA,

we have it.

ABA is the gold-standard therapy for autism, but autism affects every child in different ways. If your child needs support beyond ABA, you won’t need to go searching. We offer a full range of therapies, all under one roof.

So, how are you managing?

Really.

You don’t have to figure this out alone

Raising a child with autism takes everything you’ve got. Our social support and parent resources are here for the moments when you need to step back, regroup, and feel like someone has your back.

Find our place to just… play

Kids at Play is our sensory indoor playground in Roxborough — a place where kids with autism can run, explore, and just be kids. For many families, it becomes a weekly highlight, where you find validation and community.

Support when life gets hard

Raising a child with autism is beautiful and exhausting at the same time. The Kids at Play Foundation exists because we know that families sometimes need more than therapy. Get free diapers, clothing, toys, and essentials — no questions asked.

ABA starts with you.

We listen to what’s hard (tantrums? No friends?) and build goals around your child.
What families tell us, again and again, is that Kutest Kids doesn’t feel like an agency. It feels like having someone in your corner — someone who celebrates the small wins with you, and who’s rooting for you when things are hard. We love each and every kid, and know them all by name. When there’s an issue, you can speak directly to the director.

Your child deserves support.

And so do you.

We’re here to listen, help you understand your options, and take the next step together.

FAQs

Getting Started

Does my child need a diagnosis to start ABA?

Yes — ABA therapy is specifically designed for children with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). But if you suspect your child has autism and don’t yet have a diagnosis, don’t let that stop you from reaching out. We can point you toward trusted providers who can evaluate your child, and we’ll help you understand your options in the meantime.

What happens on the first phone call?

We’ll ask a few simple questions about your child, explain what ABA looks like at Kutest Kids, and walk you through the next steps. There’s no pressure, no complicated forms — just a real conversation with someone who genuinely wants to help.

How quickly can we get started?

Once insurance is confirmed and your BCBA assessment is complete, therapy begins as quickly as a therapist is available for your schedule. We work to make the process as smooth and fast as possible — because we know every week matters.
INSURANCE & COST

Is ABA covered by insurance?

Yes. ABA therapy is covered by most major insurance plans and Medicaid. We’re in-network with most providers, and we’ll check your benefits, handle the authorizations, and walk you through exactly what’s covered before you commit to anything. No surprises.

What if I’m not sure what my insurance covers?

That’s what we’re here for. You don’t need to figure it out on your own. Give us a call and we’ll look into it for you — we’ve done this thousands of times and can usually get you a clear answer quickly.

What if my insurance gives us trouble?

Often it’s just a matter of having the right paperwork. Our dedicated intake manager will help you through it and work to get you covered.
THE THERAPY ITSELF

What does a typical ABA session look like?

Sessions are designed to feel engaging, not clinical. Your child’s therapist works with them 1-on-1, using play, routine, and activities your child actually enjoys. Skills are practiced in the moment — so if the goal is sitting at the dinner table, that’s where the work happens. Over time, the progress sticks because it’s built into real life.

What if my child doesn’t cooperate or has a hard time at first?

Completely normal — and our therapists are trained for exactly this. Building trust takes time, especially for children with autism. Your child’s RBT will take the time to get to know them — their likes, their triggers, what makes them tick,  before pushing into new skills. Most kids who are reluctant at first end up looking forward to sessions.

How long does ABA therapy last?

It depends on your child’s needs, age, and goals, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Your BCBA will give you an honest picture once they’ve assessed your child. What we can tell you is that progress is reviewed regularly and the plan is always adjusted as your child grows and reaches new milestones.

Will the same therapist come every time?

Yes — and this matters more than most people realize. Some agencies promise fast starts and then rotate whoever’s available. We do things differently. We invest in our therapists and prioritize consistency so your child gets to build a real relationship with someone they know and trust. That’s where real progress happens.
FOR PARENTS

Do I need to be home during sessions?

If therapy is happening at home, yes, an adult needs to be present throughout the session. If your child receives therapy at daycare or school, you don’t need to be there. We’ll work around whatever your schedule looks like.

What’s my role as a parent?

A big one — and a supported one. Your BCBA will provide regular parent training sessions so you understand what’s being worked on and how to reinforce it between sessions. You’re not expected to be a therapist. But the more consistent things are at home, the faster your child will progress. We’ll show you exactly what to do.

What if I feel overwhelmed by all of this?

You’re not alone, that’s one of the most common things parents tell us. Navigating an autism diagnosis, understanding therapy options, dealing with insurance — it’s a lot. That’s exactly why we make sure every family has a real point of contact who knows them well. You’ll never be lost in a system or bounced between departments.

What if I don’t love our therapist?

You’re not stuck. The relationship between your child and their therapist matters enormously, and we take that seriously. If something doesn’t feel right, tell us, we’ll work with you to find a better fit.
BEYOND ABA

My child needs more than ABA — can you help?

Absolutely. Autism often comes with fa range of needs: speech challenges, sensory difficulties, emotional regulation, and more. Kutest Kids offers Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Mental Health services all in one place. You won’t need to manage multiple providers. We coordinate everything, so your child gets consistent, connected care.

My child is young. Should I look into Early Intervention first?

Possibly, yes. If your child is under 5, they may qualify for free Early Intervention services — no diagnosis needed. Kutest Kids offers Early Intervention across Philadelphia and surrounding counties. Give us a call and we’ll help you figure out the right starting point for your child’s age and needs.
